Taking it to the streets with balloons

As these vintage photos show, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade was originally a subversive protest, dedicated to sending up symbols of oppressive state authority:

We propose to take it back from that talking kitchen sponge and rededicate it to the truly  inflated characters:
